in which it operates. The concept of social responsibility is
one that is solidly anchored in the company's business culture.
Transcontinental has
chosen to concentrate its efforts on the vital areas of health,
education, culture and community development.
Furthermore, in 2007 the Corporation was ranked one of Canada's
50 most socially responsible corporate citizens for the fifth
time in six years by Corporate
Knights, an organization dedicated to the promotion of socially
responsible practices and investments. The ranking is based
on data provided by three research firms and takes into account
community involvement, labour relations, environmental practices,
occupational health & safety and profitability.
Every year, Transcontinental contributes to worthy causes either
through cash donations or through the provision of free printing
services, distribution services (through its Ad-Bag/Publisac)
and advertising space in its publications. |

In the area of health care, Transcontinental
supports many hospitals and research centres, among
them the Canadian Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis
Society of Canada, the Montreal Heart Institute, the
Montreal General Hospital, the Montreal Children’s
Hospital and the Saint-Justine Children’s Hospital.

In the area of education, several universities
in Quebec benefit from various types of assistance from
Transcontinental, most notably HEC Montréal,
through the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux Chair in
Arts Management, and the Université du Québec
en Outaouais. Elsewhere in Canada, recipients include
the School of Graphic Communication Management at Ryerson
University in Toronto, Manitoba University and Prince
Edward Island University. Also of note is that Transcontinental
has been one of the three main sponsors of the Institut
des communications graphiques de Montréal. |
