Transcontinental in a good position
to successfully complete its projects and keep growing
Speaking to an audience of some 250 people, Rémi
Marcoux, Executive Chairman of the Board and founder of
Transcontinental, addressed the annual meeting of shareholders
on Wednesday, February 18, in Montreal. His presentation
was followed by those of François Olivier, President
and CEO of Transcontinental, and Benoît Huard, Vice
President and CFO, who discussed the current situation while
highlighting the Corporation’s initiatives, progress
and successes in 2008.

Despite the recession, the measures implemented throughout
the Corporation are placing Transcontinental in a good position
to successfully complete its projects and keep growing.
In his speech, François Olivier listed several achievements
in 2008 that will have positive impacts in 2009:
- Establishment of the Marketing Communications sector,
as well as acquisitions that will enable us to promote
custom publishing, variable digital printing and electronic
flyers.
- Investment in content for Canadian women, namely the
launch of Vita magazine.
- Launch of the site weblocal.ca, to serve local communities.
- Signing of several major contracts with Canadian publishers
and advertisers, including Rogers, The Globe and Mail
and Shoppers Drug Mart-Pharmaprix.
